independence day

what July 4th means to me:

1. the reckless endangerment of others.
2. massive consumption of mind-state altering substances.
3. tacky patriotic articles of clothing, of all kinds.
4. cold hot dogs and hamburgers.
5. blatant ignorance of the significance of the meaning of independence.

I don't think that anyone would ever go so far as to call me a patriotic person. However, that being said, I do believe that many would suggest that I understood, and believe in some, if not most, of the ideas that our Independence Day is supposed to evoke in people in celebration of that monumental occasion. The ideas of being free from tyranny of all kinds, is an idea that I honestly believe should be celebrated by all people, regardless of their political agendas or affiliations. This year, as really no different than any other, a small group of people and myself sought out the company of a few friends, and a decent display of combustive powders in the atmosphere. Well, we found it.

One of the best, intimate, and friendly environments to be.... Cabbage Town. the Esther Peachey Lafloureeeee park had a truly awesome display, that seemed to be put on by residents of the neighborhood. No advertisements, no crappy overly patriotic songs, no assholes(that you didn't know) yelling anything that seemed to be slightly offensive and driving you to the point of trying to find a solution to the American Education System's wealth of problems, just(for the most part) people I had known for years and have had many conversations with about a whole plethora of subjects.

Granted, there were none of the normal pseudo-intellectual conversations to be had with me this year. As history has shown, me+booze+fireworks+large groups of people= something of a chaotic ball of precarious pyrotechnics. I do apologize if anyone got hurt, but to those of you that came out there and put forth an effort to have a good time and include people that you didn't even know.... I just want to say thank you. It was one of the best times that I have had in Atlanta in at least a year. Your efforts did not go unnoticed.

The quality and amount of photos does not reflect times actually had..... stupid me. Didn't charge camera battery.
